What Inspired Your Business:
I remember writing my first published article for a high school club newsletter, and I've been hooked on writing ever since. As for the Internet, I've been involved in online communications since the 1980s (think BBSes), and adding the Internet to the marketing mix seemed like the natural thing to do back in the early 90s.
Most Unusual Client, or Client Story:
I've been "friends" with members of my online discussion groups for more than a decade, but most of them I've never met in person. When one of my group members announced that she'd lost her son in the World Trade Center (9/11), I picked up the telephone and called her. Even though we'd never met, she took my call immediately.
Top Selling Product/Service:
"The Internet Marketing Plan," by Kim M. Bayne (book)
Best Place to Get Work Done:
At the local public library. There's something about being surrounded by all those print encyclopedias and directories that helps me focus. I worked in Reference Services in college, so I feel very comfortable sitting near ready-reference volumes.
Coolest Personal Item on Your Desk:
A ceramic fish I picked up in Mexico. I keep paper clips in it. Plus, a cherry-stained pencil box I picked up on a trip to Hong Kong -- it is inlaid with shell.
Where You Plan to Retire:
Arizona is nice and warm, but I left my heart in Colorado.
Best Networking Tool:
What, are you kidding? The Internet, of course. (pause) Okay, industry associations are pretty good, too.
